NaNoWriWs4U

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this month, but I am participating in NaNoWriWs4U as part of the Writers Support 4 U Facebook group. Today I announce my goal for this month, and I'll check in with the WS4U group daily on Facebook and here on my blog once a week to let you know my progress. If you'd like to join in the fun, it's not too late! And if you're not a member of WS4U yet, hop on Facebook and join us!

My Project: The Cottage (working title)
Genre: Mystery
Category: YA
Goal: 80,000 words
Current Word Count: 30,000
Words Left to Go: 50,000

This is a total guesstimate, since my ultimate goal is a 90,000-word draft, but I know my rough drafts are always short so I'm guessing it will end up at more like 80,000 words. So my real goal is just to finish the rough draft, whether I've achieved that word count or not.
How about you? Are you doing Nano? Do you have a writing goal for this month?

Check out some other great progress this week:

  9. I don't have the self discipline to be a writer, I end up gawping out of the window.

  10. Susan, good luck with your writing goals. I have a 25,000 word goal. If I achieve that I'll be very happy.

  15. I'm not doing NaNo either, but I'll cheer the participants on! However, I am doing PiBoIdMo (picture book idea month). It's more on my level of do-able. :)

PS - I haven't seen you on Twitter for a while. Did you give it up?

  25. Great that you are already 30,000 words into your novel! I am so far only 1,000 into my NaNo novel. A shaky beginning. Waiting to hit my stride...

  26. I hope I'll get a sneak peak at The Cottage this weekend????

My computer crashed and I had to buy a new one this weekend. I've been busy copying and transferring files until today....I hope to work on my Nano project tomorrow.

  27. I'm doing NaNo this year, since my rough drafts are VERY short. As in 40-50k words.

I only flesh out in rewrites.

  28. That sounds like a great group!
I'm doing NaNo this year, partly because I needed a break from revision my "other" WIP. I'm actually learning things in the process of writing this new book that I think I can use for that revision, when I get back to it in December.

  29. My goal is to REALLY get done with my revisions. Good luck with yours!

  30. Good luck with your project.

I check out the Facebook page several times a week, but I'd like to be more active.

  31. Go Susan! I'm sure you can do it. My goals are smaller but I'm hoping to hit them anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good luck, Susan! Very ambitious! :)

  33. I like the break down of your latest project. I may have to emmulate that on my blog. I'm not doing nano though I plan to have an unofficial go at writing as much as possible this month on a new project. Go girl and good luck!

  34. All the best with your goals, Susan!

  35. Hi. I'm back, but this time to tell you I've left you a little award over at the Write Game. Stop by and pick it up when you have moment.

  36. November is probably the worst month of the year for me to try writing 50,000 words in 30 days. After an epic fail last year, I'm not attempting it this year, but this month I'm doing a final edit of ORACLE, planning book 2, and starting on some short stories that have been stewing for some time.
