I'm Back! For Real This Time...

Wow, now that was a long break! I've missed everyone and I'm so happy to be back!

In my previous post, I told you I was hoping to get the rough draft of my new manuscript done over the summer. Well, I was actually a lot more productive than I ever dreamed I could be. My goal was to have a draft done by Sept. 1 so I could sign up for a local Revision Retreat Weekend led by author Darcy Pattison the weekend of Sept. 14-16. Not only did I get the rough draft done, but I got through two revisions (just enough so I could let the others in the workshop read my manuscript and not feel like I had to go hide in a hole after). :)

So, in a couple of weeks I'll be taking part in the Revision Retreat Weekend, and I can't wait! I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. But next week, I'll have a special post to help a friend celebrate some awesome news!

How was your summer? Was it productive? Or did you enjoy some time off?

Have a great week, everyone!

  2. So happy to have you back!! As you already know, I took most of the summer off; didn't even do much writing other than freelance work. I've never done that before, but our family needed to share time together. It was well worth it.

So excited to start working on my fiction, though!

  8. Welcome back, friend!

Yep, my summer writing was pretty productive, against all odds. My house is a mess because of it, but what's new! ha ha!

I'm so glad you had a good summer. <3

  11. Good for you! I have to let my first drafts sit for a while before I can dive back into revisions. I did finish one first draft and am closing in on another one - revision season to come!

I am never so productive in the summer... having kids at home makes that impossible.

    *sigh*

  24. YaY, it's great to see you back! Glad you had a productive summer. I did write, edit, or revise nearly everyday, but didn't get as much done as I would've liked.

  25. Way to go, you!!! Congrats on the draft done PLUS revisions. Hope the revision retreat goes well, and you get great feedback. :)

My summer wasn't productive writing-wise--I moved to California and I'm still somewhat in limbo. Trying to get back into the swing of writing lately.

  28. I have Revision Retreat envy. I always think I'm going to be more productive in the summer than I end of being. Oh well. Time to get back into my routine.

  29. I'm both impressed and jealous. All I managed to do was edit a few chapters of my WIP. That's why I was soooo happy when the kids went back to school yesterday. Now I can finally get in some series edits.

  33. That's exactly what I need! A revision retreat! Except three days would just be a starter for me. I'm amazed at how much longer it takes me to revise than to rough draft. Like, double the time, or more...Eager to hear what you have to say about this retreat.

  34. I'm glad your summer was so productive! So often people say that they didn't get nearly as much done as they'd planned, or that the summer just sped by too fast. Welcome back.

  35. Welcome back!!! It is a good feeling when your summer is so productive. Awesome! Enjoy the retreat.
