BooKrushed Reading List

Image: jscreationzs / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

So many awesome books coming out in 2011, so little time! But I should have time to read at least 11, so I went ahead and joined the BooKrushed 2011 Reading Challenge. The BooKrushed ladies suggested we share our reading lists with the world, so while I'm not organized enough to say with finality that these will be my 11 (and hopefully there will be more than 11, but that's all I'm committing to), I will say that this is my reading list as it stands today. Here goes:

January - Across the Universe by Beth Revis
February - Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting
February - Delirium by Lauren Oliver
March - The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker
March - The Hating Game by Talli Roland (I don't have an eReader, so I figure the paperback release counts as a 2011 release for me)
June - Possession by Elana Johnson
June - Passion by Lauren Kate
September - With a Name Like Love by Tess Hilmo
September - Supernaturally by Kiersten White
September - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
October - Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

And even though it wasn't published in 2011, I'm going to go ahead and add Dogsled Dreams by Terry Lynn Johnson (published 12/10) to the list, because she's awesome, and with the reviews she's been getting the book has to be, too.

Oops - I forgot one! I also plan to read Medeia Sharif's debut novel, Bestest.Ramadan.Ever, to be released this summer. So sorry I forgot that one, and thanks for helping me remember, Dawn! :)

So that's it! What's on your reading list for 2011?

  1. I signed up for that challenge too! So far I've read Head Games by Keri Mikulski.
I sooo want to read Possession, Liar Society, Bad Taste in Boys and so many great ones coming out this year!

  2. I love your list Susan!!! Ours are SO similar that I'm going to add a few of the ones I didn't have to my ever-growing pile!

    Thanks for participating! ;)

  3. Thanks so much for adding me to your list! You've made my day!

I'm part of the Elevensies debuts - sometimes books come out two weeks early or later than planned. But I'm happy to still be considered part of this fantastic group!

So many great reads! I've read quite a few so far - and I also can't wait for the ones on your list! I'm currently reading Delirium!

  4. You've got a great list going on here. I don't usually select books in advance, but am more spontaneous with my reading, picking up something that someone recommends, or something that catches my eye. Mostly I end up with a blend of fiction and memoir though.

  5. YAY! Great list! I'll have to look into some of these I'm unfamiliar with :)

  6. Possession is on my list to read too. I've never seen a better cover on a book!

And also: Hi! *waves* I'm your new Crusader Group 8 buddy!

  10. Hi there fellow crusader. My reading is a bit more random, so I don't have a list, but it's fascinating to see yours.

  11. Hi! Thanks for dropping by! It's lovely to meet so many new people! Sounds like you have your reading all planned out for you for a while! Happy reading!

  15. Oh how fun! These sound great. I'm definitely adding some of them to my TBR list. Maybe not all, though, because I'm still attempting to make some progress with the Fill in the Gaps reading project I'm doing. You'll be posting reviews, right? ;)

  16. Hello, fellow crusader!!! Ooh, purple! *wiping drool* I love purple. ;)

Nice book list! Um, well, most of my reads consist of debut authors such as David West, Karen Hoover, Don Carey, Kimberly Job. Other authors like Tristi Pinkston and Kathi Oram Peterson!

  18. Hi there fellow crusader - I'm stopping by to return your visit, say hi, and follow. I love your book list! Many of these are on my to-read list as well. I'm doing a 100 book challenge for the year (yeah - a little ambitious since I'm reading a lot of YA and so far I'm only up to 6 :) but there's so much great writing out there. It's really inspiring. Or intimidating... :)

  19. The BooKrushed thing sounds like fun. Bet you'll discover some new authors and genres you really like. :)

  20. Hi Susan! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm looking forward to hearing your reviews from your book list. There were some there I hadn't heard of yet. So glad we have some things in common.

  21. thanks for including my book Susan..that is surreal to see your little story on someone's TBR list. I just ordered a load of books to take on a vacation w/ me including Revolution by Jennifer Donnely, Ten Cents a Dance by Christine Fletcher and The Year the Swallows Came Early by Kathryn Fitzmaurice. All are last year or older but I want them!

  22. Hi Susan, Nice to meet you! My Nook is loaded with so many books, not sure where to begin. However, I recently finished a great YA book called INSIDE MY HEAD by Jim Carrington. My fave read so far in 2011 is THE BOOK THIEF. (Yeah, I'm a little behind on new releases.)

  23. Susan, you are so organized with your list. I'm more random and decide at the time what I'm in the mood for. I had Across the Universe on my mp3 player now and plan to be one of the next books I listen to. Great to meet you. I'm a fellow Crusader.

  24. Thanks for stopping by and the follow. I'm following back. I need to do a reading challenge. I haven't been able to read anything lately--not even my stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I suspect most of the books on your list are YA and that's why I don't recognize them. I read between 10 and 20 books a week (non-fiction AND fiction). I'm currently reading the latest John Sandford. In my spare time I write erotic romance. :-)

  26. Great list, Susan! I stopped by to say hi to a fellow Crusader. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm a follower now. :)

  27. I'm not being too organised this year. I'll read what I can grab and go from there.

  28. How do you know that all those books are awesome without having explored them first? Some of them could really suck. You know...just cause something is published doesn't automatically make it awesome. Just playing the devil's advocate.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sounds like a great challenge! I've only read The Hating Game on the list, it was great!

    ReplyDelete
  30. So many great books on your list - also on mine (Across the Universe, Possession, Unbecoming of Mara Dyer). I'm also waiting for Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey. I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty of great stuff, but I'll read as much of it as I can get my hands on!

  31. Ooh, all the titles in your list sound so intriguing! What am I reading this year? I don't have a particular list, except what I read every moth for the mother-daughter book club I'm part of, and then whatever piques my interest at that point...

    Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a great list! And you know what I love about it? These are by authors we see and the blogging world, and we love the people behind the stories.

I don't know what I'll be reading this year, but I'd imagine I'll be reading some from your list. Right now I'm reading GOING BOVINE, and it's a lot of fun.

  33. I'm laughing. Though I am just reading this now, I've been kind of following it so far. I read (and loved) Across the Universe in January. And I just bought Delirium 2 days ago, and am going to start reading it this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I already read Talli's book, but I'm buying it for my mother in March. And I am going to read Elana's book as soon as I can get my hands on it! After reading Paranormalcy, I'm looking forward to the sequel!

    ReplyDelete
  35. That is a great list! A few are on my to-read, including The Hating Game (I've been waiting when it comes out in Canada in March). Sounds like a great challenge and I look forward to reading how it goes for you!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great list! There are so many awesome books coming out this year! I plan to read some of the same ones. I haven't read DOGSLED DREAMS yet, but I will! I'm totally looking forward to it! Stasia Kehoe's AUDITION comes out this year. I already read it, and it's great! Medeia Sharif's book is another I plan to hit.

  43. Cool list.
Just dropping by to say hello as a fellow crusader and new follower. On to the challenge!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Goodness I've not read any of those yet! So many books recommended and I'm doing my best to get through them :O)

  45. Love your blog. The awards are so well-deserved. YOu have inspired me, fellow crusader, to set a goal of a book a month. That is what I am lacking, some discipline in reading. I am a reading specialist by day so I read tons of kids books, picture and mg and some ya but no adult just good lit stuff. So thanks for the inspiration.

  46. Fun reading list! Hello from a fellow crusader!

  47. Sounds like some fine reading ahead. Currently I'm reading Tamara Heiner's Perilous and have a few others waiting in the wings including Cathcer in the Rye.
Hope you'll consider joining in the Blogging From A to Z April Challenge 2011 --a lot of other Crusaders are doing both and they actually will work well together.

I've read quite a few 2011 books so far.

I have a blog award for you.

  49. Most of these are on my list (just finished Delirium and Desires of the Dead is this week). I'm also reading Melissa Marr's next book (due out Tuesday) and I'm Not Her by Janet Gutler (same pub as LiLa).

I didn't realize Passion is due out in June. I'm off to preorder it now. :D

  50. That's a great list. I think I have most of those on my TBR list!

  51. Hello fellow crusader! Thanks, so much, for stopping by my blog. Your list includes several I'm dying to read (and will soon, of course)! Across the Universe, Possession and The Liar Society, in particular. Happy reading! :)

  52. Suzy, I've just noticed there are no male writers in you to-read list :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. So many of the books you plan to read are also on my to-read least. I hope you plan to review them on your blog. I'd love to see what you think.

I'm too busy writing to read much at the moment. If I read it is usually for research.

  59. Hey crusader, I have over 100 books on my list- old and new – a bit long to post in comments!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Susan, My list is scheduled to go up on Friday. And did you read mine, cause ours look alike. Wow.

Of course Universe is the one I critiqued for a year, so I couldn't wait to read the finished product. Paged through it when Beth showed me her first author copy at one of our meetings.

I can't wait to read Medeia and Tess' books. So looking forward to them.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Great list!
I've got Susan Elizabeth Phillips's book on my TBR list, Patti Lacy's The Rythm of Secrets, Keri's Head Games, and that's all for now. LOL
