I've been in school for almost half a semester now (I can't believe I've got my microbiology lab midterm next week - just about the halfway point!) and I'm loving it, really I am. But there is soooo much reading. Which really isn't so bad because for the most part it's pretty interesting stuff (especially anatomy & physiology.) The problem is, all this textbook reading doesn't leave nearly enough time for what I really want to be reading...
I just finished The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (I loved it but not quite as much as The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.)
I'm reading The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey right now. I saw this book mentioned on another writer's blog last week and it sounded so interesting I had to give it a try. I didn't realize when I reserved it at the library that it was written in 1949. I very rarely read older books, but it's definitely caught my interest right from the start.
Next up: Moonlight Mile by Dennis Lehane (just because I love his writing) and Starters by Lissa Price (which was recommended to me by a dear friend - hi, Sharon!)
How about you? What are you reading now? Do you find yourself getting frustrated by not having enough time to read, or do you make reading a top priority? And do you like to read older books?

Being in school always reduces reading time - I think your brain just gets so full from all the other reading.
I've had Starters on my wishlist for a while now - it sounds great :)

I haven't had as much time to read the past week, so I haven't really gotten into the new book I started (only one chapter one). And I tend to read newer books, but I do enjoy older books here and there.

I just finished up with a YA Series (there were 6!) by Shane Peacock. We are fans of the new BBC series Sherlock so I was intrigued about a series regarding Sherlock Holmes as a youth. Eye of the Crow: The Boy Sherlock Holmes, His First Case was an enjoyable read. Research can be such fun! I just have to remember to take my own pen to paper as I can easily whittle away a whole day reading! (and when there is more than one book I am in trouble)
Half a semester gone? Wow, that flew by. I'm still reading cookery books and magazines. As for my writing, it's all bakes right now, and I love it.
I'm kind of in a Jack Reacher mode. I'm two books in with two more on my shelf waiting. :)
I'm reading bloggers' books and Netgalley books lately. I'm interested in Mara Dyer part 2. I have the ebook, but there isn't enough time to read.
I know someone who read TEOMD and didn't get into it like the first book. I didn't love the first book enough to read the sequel, plus I forgot what happened.
I'm starting to read Leigh T Moore's The Truth About Letting Go tonight.
Reading is a top priority for me. I always read fiction before I go to bed. But when I was a drug rep, I never had time to read anything that wasn't medical related (and that doesn't mean medical thrillers).

So many book 2s don't have the same luster as book 1.

Yay for school! You go, Susan! I liked Mara Dyer but it was sorta spooky... but maybe in a good way? I'm still deciding. :)
Right now I am totally obsessed with Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone series (third one doesn't come out till 2014 - gah!).
I am always a bit wary of older books if they're not classics because I've been burnt before - even if it was popular back in the day, some stuff just doesn't stand the test of time, you know? But I love to get a good recommendation for an older one because they are usually cheap or in stock at the library. I am too impatient to wait in line for new releases at the library! And of course it's always nice when you start reading a series and the whole series is already published and you don't have to wait!

I am reading C. Lee McKenzie's Alligators Overhead. Fun book so far! Up next is either Safe Haven or Life of Pi because I will see those movies soon and I want to read the books first!:)
Congrats on making it through halfway! I've got a stack of Graham Joyce books on my nightstand waiting for me, including Some Kind of Fairy Tale. Looking forward to them. He's an amazing writer. But I've got a couple of manuscripts I've working through right now for friends, too, so they'll have to wait for a bit.

I've read lots of classics in the last six months (sometimes I just crave them), but I'm still hitting modern books. I recently read DEVINE INTERVENTION by Martha Brockenbrough, and it was great! I plan to buy FIRE by Kristin Cashore tomorrow. I know I'm behind in the series, but I'd like to get caught up! I loved GRACELING!
