Contest! Contest! Read All About It!

That's right! After entering many of your contests (and winning a few awesome prizes, I must say) I've reached 100 followers and I'm going to have my own contest! I'm so excited for this opportunity to thank you guys for joining me on my blogging journey and to hopefully make some new blogging buddies as well. Thanks everyone - you all rock!

I'll be giving away three gift cards ($30, $20, and $10) to either Barnes & Noble or Borders (your choice).

The rules:
Be a follower and leave a comment on this post with your tally. Tell me if you prefer Barnes & Noble or Borders. You must leave your comment on this post because I'm way too scatterbrained to keep track of them if they're anywhere else.

Mention this contest on other sites - Twitter, Facebook, etc. +2

Tell me who your all-time favorite literary character is and why +1

Contest ends April 24 at 11:59 Central time (so I can announce the winners on April 25 - my 18th wedding anniversary, hooray!)

I'm sorry - I should have mentioned this yesterday, but I will ship internationally. Please don't let that stop you from joining in the fun!

Good luck!

Congrats on the followers and great contest. I have to admit I was thinking of doing the gift cards this way for my 100th, but never got around to doing the contest. I still think it's a great idea. :) And I prefer Borders.

I feel like Sophie making this grueling choice. ONE favorite?!
The tree in The Giving Tree.
Yes, I took the easy way out. I chose a tree. I LOVE that book. It still makes me cry. That tree.
The list of 'people' characters to choose from, that I hold dear, is TOO LONG. I couldn't possibly choose just one.

CONGRATS!

Hey Susan, congratulations about reaching 100 followers! That's amazing, good job!

I joined your site a couple of days ago, does that make me an old follower or a new one? I can't tell.

I think my favourite literary character of all time is probably Iago from Othello because he's such a mystery.

I guess that's 1+4+1 or 2+4+1?

And I prefer Borders, most definitely. By the way, I think your contest prizes are so generous! Thanks for doing this.

Congratulations Susan on your 100 followers. I'll post your contest on twitter and the side bar of my blog right away. I'm writing during a work break so don't have time to do the math but my favorite literary character is Pip from Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I have visited Barnes and Nobles when I have been in USA--does that than count as my favourite?

I prefer Barnes and Nobles.

My favorite book is the Color of Water by James McBride. A black's mans tribute to his white mother Ruth Mcbride. She is the daughter of an orthdox Jewish father and she falls in love with a black man in the early 40's. It is a riveting story. It will make you laugh and cry. It's soulful and really refelcts the human spirit.
Her son the author does an absoloutely amazing job telling his mother's story.

Hello~ I just love following your blog, as I am fairly new to blogging and still learn the ins and outs! What a great idea to have a contest!!

As for my favorite literary character, it is Frodo Baggins. I always felt Tolkein created him as such a deep thinker and I felt the movies certainly did his character an injustice. He is still my favorite though!

Congratulations on your over-hundred followers. Followers. Does that mean that now you have to wear robes and start speaking in parables?

Actually, I like Kindred Spirits as a label better. But I have that kind of mind.

My favorite literary character? Ulysses. He used his mind to escape everything the gods could throw at him. And he did it for love, finally reaching the woman of his dreams after long years. What's not to love about that?

Thank you for the kind words about my short story, THE LIES LOCUST TELL. They were deeply appreciated. And if anyone reading this comment would like to visit : www.rolandyeomans.blogspot.com is the place to sneak a peek.

Have only the best of times this week, Roland

And the answer to the my-favorite-character question is ... Molly Gibson from Elizabeth Gaskell's Wives and Daughters because she is so brave and strong in ways I don't think I could be brave and strong. I think I would be a puddle of tears if put in her circumstances.

It was hard to choose between Molly and Elizabeth Bennet ... oh, and of course Margaret Hale from North and South. But in the end I like Molly's spunk -- and her integrity.

Congratulations on 100+ follower, Susan. I think my total is 7. Yippee!
