Picture Cheat

I'm having so much fun with Sharon I forgot to write a blog post last night, so I figured I'd cheat a little and just show some follow-up pictures from my last post.

Here's Sharon's daughter (the beautiful smiling girl) and my daughter (the head ducked behind the Balderdash box). On Sharon's last night in St. Louis, we all played Balderdash together and laughed harder than I can remember laughing in a long time. My daughter's answer about it being against the law in North Carolina to make a pinata of a striped elephant because they revere elephants has us laughing for a good five minutes.

Here's Sharon showing all the world how much she loves Balderdash. Sharon's answer about a movie with English children drinking fizzy soda and floating to the moon was also a highlight of the evening.

And this is my youngest daughter and the (delicious!) cake she baked for my birthday.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes, Everyone! Seriously, they kept me smiling all day long.

What plans do you have for the weekend? Have a great one!

Oh, your baby is PRECIOUS! And of course I LOVE the Balderdash box! One of my faves!

The weekend? Farmers Market with best friend, a cookout, seeing friends, and worship at Grace.

God is so good.

Oooh -- blue and pink frosting. She's my kind of girl. :)

Weekend -- ICL teaching, church pancake breakfast outreach, and "let's see what happens" time.

As I'm living in North Carolina now, I can say that it is absolutely true. You cannot make a striped elephant pinata.

Weekend -- working on the wip. As usual.

Glad you and Sharon and the girls had so much fun.

Taboo is also a fun family game to play. This weekend, I'm working on a couple WIPs, expanding the dialogue, adding some action, a couple twists in the plot.

Patti - That sounds like a wonderful weekend you have planned - enjoy! And yes, God is so good!

Marcia - I hope your pancake breakfast goes well! And lets-see-what-happens time is one of my favorite kinds of time - for me it usually ends in a nap. :)

Lola - Yes, it was a wonderful birthday, and I love that "birthday weekend" idea!

Anne - I told my daughter and Sharon's that you verified that you can't make a striped elephant pinata in North Carolina. They about died laughing all over again. :)

Susan Fields said...

Old Kitty - I do love Balderdash! I just bought it a week ago, and the new version is different and even more fun that the original version that I already loved. If you get a chance, definitely pick it up!

Bish - I hope the unpacking goes well! That's never any fun, though I do prefer unpacking to packing.

Catherine - It was a wonderful birthday, it was great having Sharon and Katherine visit for the big day. :)

Stina - Sorry, it's all gone. But it was delicious! :) It's so nice having another baker in the house.

Theresa - Sharon spent a full day reading Kessler (now there's a dedicated friend!), so I had time to catch up on the million things I got behind on while I was knee-deep in revisions, and to do some blogging. :)

Lenny - How lucky you are to have cousins with such a deep pool! I hope you have a fantastic time with them!

Laura - I was so surprised when I bought Balderdash to find out it's a newer version than the one my sister has. Instead of just definitions, there's movie titles and sort-of-famous people and initials and weird laws. I think we had the most fun with the weird laws and movie titles categories.

Shelley - We did have a great time. We always love Sharon and Katherine's visits!

Julie - My youngest loves to bake (just like her mother!) It's really nice to have another baker in the house. :)

Stephen - We have Taboo and I remember loving it, but for some reason we haven't pulled it out in years. Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to get it out again!

Sharon - You look awesome, what are you talking about? Thanks so much for coming and celebrating with us!

Al - I have to clean the house this weekend, too. :( I'm looking forward to seeing some swan pictures!

Susan Fields said...

Candyland - Thank you!

Lisa - I agree, that time and attention does make a cake special! She even looked in the cookbooks to find a frosting recipe and made homemade frosting - which was really good. :)

Kimberly - Unfortunately, the cake's all gone, but between my birthday and my son's, I'm about caked-out right now. You have a wonderful weekend, too!

DL - Thank you! I had Sharon stumped on that Pirates of the Caribbean line, too. :)

Betty - It really was a great birthday - lot of fun and laughter. :)

Carolina - Yes, the cake was precious (and really delicious!) I love Balderdash - it's my new favorite game!

I love personal photographs on bloggers' blogs. These are nice. Hope you're having a good weekend. I'm trying to relax with my daughter, do my Saturday laundry, and will probably do some revisions; but I'm not going to sweat these this weekend since I did get some revisions off yesterday, as you read on my blog. Thanks for stopping by. And glad you had a great birthday.

Happy belated Birthday, Susan!! Looks like you had a wonderful time with Sharon. :) I hope someday I can sit down for a game of Balderdash with you girls. It's my favorite game in the whole world!!

Such fun! Great answers to a fun game and a beautiful cake = perfection :)

Susan Fields said...

Nicole - Thank you! We're having a relaxing and fun weekend here. I hope yours is going great, too!

Ann - I did laundry today, too. I still have to fold it tonight, but I watch a movie while I do it, so that should be fun. :)

Amy - A group of writers sitting around playing this game would be hysterical. It's definitely a game more suited to creative types. If you ever visit Missouri or Iowa, Sharon and I would both love to play a few rounds!

Jemi - You're right, that is perfection. Well said!

Roland D. Yeomans said...

Wow. That looked such a fun birthday party. Those pictures were so natural that I felt part of the festivities.

Thanks for such words about my writing on Olivia's and my blog. It means the world to me -- especially with agents stumbling over themselves to see who can reject me next. Roland

Jackee said...

AWWW!! Thanks so much for posting those adorable pictures. I'm so glad you guys had a great time. Look at your cute children!

And as I told Sharon, some day, ONE DAY, I'll get to meet you both in real life. That will be a great day indeed!

Susan Fields said...

Roland - You are so talented! You just haven't round the right agent yet, but when you do, he/she will scoop you right up!

Jackee - Someday we'll do it, we'll all get together - and play Balderdash! :)
