Wow, you guys had some awesome suggestions for me and my kids to read. I wrote them all down and now I have a huge list to arm myself with at the library/bookstore. This should keep us busy for a long time! If anyone's interested in some great book ideas for their kids, please see the comments on my previous post.
Also, I finished Talli Roland's The Hating Game the other day, and I had to let you all know how much I loved it. As I've said before, I'm a fantasy girl through and through, so this book was my first ever venture into chick lit. I didn't know what to expect, but I really loved it! The characters are so real, I felt like I knew them. I was rooting the entire time for Mattie to get the guy (and to not let the bad guy get her!) It was a super fun read - I just love a book that makes me laugh out loud. Now I can't wait for Watching Willow Watts in November! Great job, Talli! And a special thanks to Laura Howard, who donated my copy of The Hating Game which I won on Talli's blog.
So, I'm working my way through my Bookrusher's 11 from 11 during 11 reading list (taking a short break right now to read Hex Hall so I can read its sequel, Demonglass - which is a 2011 release - next). Have you read any books published in 2011 so far this year? Which ones?
I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

I'm about half way through and am totally enjoying it. Love the humor! (And I'm not a chick lit reader either.)
I'm eager for Talli's next book too!
I love the cover. Very cute!
Talli's book seems like a fun read, with lots of energy. I always enjoy a story when the characters seem so real :)
I have been waiting for the paperback version of The Hating Game to show up in my Canadian bookstores but it is taking too long! I may have to buy the ebook! I have yet to read a 2011 book. I am still catching up on 2009. There are so many great reads.
I think the only one I've read so far is Learning to Swim. I'm still trying to catch up on all the other years' worth of books I haven't read yet. LOL!

Aw...I'm so happy you shared your thoughts about Talli's book! It's yet another hardcover on my TBR list. :)
It's so much fun when a book exceeds your expectations!
Yay for enjoying reading fab books!! Take care
x
I just finished '11 releases The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker and The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan. I highly recommend both! If you haven't read Carrie Ryan's previous two books, I'd read those first though.
I bought Talli's book, but haven't read it yet. I just read The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker and Possession by Elana Johnson. They are both wonderful books. Elana's book comes out in June.
I have Talli's book on my "to-read" list. Hope I get to it soon!
Oh yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Susan, and thanks so much for posting about it! :)
And thanks to everyone here, too, who has bought it! Blogging buds RULE!
I really want to read Demonglass. You'll have to tell us how you like it. =D
I have a Kindle version of THG, but haven't finished yet. I'm glad to hear your thoughts on it!
This year I've really liked Liar Society but not so much Brandon Mull's new Beyonders series. I expect better of his writing than I'm getting.
Hugs! Stay dry and tornado free, please!
I've read Angel (Maximum Ride), Awakened (House of Night), and am about to read The Dark and Hollow Places (Carrie Ryan).
Looking forward to Possession.
I just finished the first in the Haddix series (Margaret Peterson) - it might be something you and the fam might enjoy. :)
I've got quite a few 2011 books planned for this year and have already read a bunch. I've got aprox 10 on my bookshelve (plus one in the mail) so far, and there's a few hitting my mail box next month. Face it, I'm a new release addict. ;)
I've just finished VOODOO RIVER by Robert Craig and thoroughly loved Patricia Briggs, RIVER MARKED, the latest Mercy Thompson novel. (You should really read the first in the series, MOON CALLED, if you like fantasy.
I've been busy re-reading my own RITES OF PASSAGE and ADRIFT IN THE TIME STREAM prior to just now releasing them as eBooks.
I recommend ODD AND THE FROST GIANTS by Neil Gaimam for your children. It is short and fun, written expressly for World Book Day. How cool is that? Roland
I haven't read Talli's book yet but I've heard it's great! I love chick lit, and I'll bet I'll love it. I haven't read any books published in 2011, but I did read one that was just published in September of 2010 (doesn't count, I know :D)
I can't wait to read The Hating Game. I've read such great reviews on it. I am reading my ARC of POSSESSION just now. So much reading, so little time. *sigh*
Aren't friends great? I've had nothing but help and support from the blogging community.
The Hating Game...got it. I'm desperate for some reading material!
The Hating Game DOES look fun! Thanks for telling me :)
not only that I read some 2011 books, but I also read some exclusively before they hit the bookstores :)
I loved Talli's book too. She's got a great voice.
I always have a huge list of books to read! Wish I had more time to read!
I'll be venturing into a realm angels fear to tread ... chic lit. I'll be reading The Hating Game and giving a review, my first chic lit book ever. I have three books I'm currently wrapping up first.
I enjoyed Talli's book too. Like you, I'm a fantasy girl. But she hit all the right notes.
What have I read this year? Across the Universe, XVI, Possession, and Delirium,. Now I'm reading The Emerald Atlas. Demonglass is next. I think a few others on my list came out in the fall of last year.
I haven't read any published this year. I'm still catching up on ones published last year. Lol.
Ooh, another book from Talli? Great!
I read Possession and Wither recently. Both great reads.
Talli is so great, so talented! I need to get an actual copy ordered now.
So cool you're working through the BookKrusher's list.
Great 2011 books I've read this year and highly recommend:
How Lamar's Bad Prank Won a Bubba-sized Trophy by Crystal Allen
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
Warped by Melissa Guidbord
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Haven by Kristi Cook
The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
