Holiday Spirit

Now that Thanksgiving's come and gone, it's time for the burning question: Have you started your Christmas shopping? Other than a few small things here and there, I haven't. I haven't put up a single decoration, taken the Christmas card photo, or listened to a carol. I'm sure my holiday spirit will get here eventually, but it's a little slow coming this year.

How about you? Are you in the holiday spirit? Or how about the winter spirit? Winter is my least favorite season, but my son loves it. He watches the weather constantly, looking for snow in the forecast (none yet, thank goodness!) Have you had any snow where you live? If not, are you looking forward to it?

Most of my shopping is done! (The Internet rocks.) I'm ready for the feeling of Christmas. Tough when it's been seventy+ degrees though.

I decorate on the 2 week of December and I pray for snow for Christmas Day just cos it just feels even more chrissmassy that way! Then I can't wait for Spring! LOL!

I got out a box of Christmas ornaments and led my daughter put them up around the house. Oh, and I worked on presents for my husband -- the very hardest person on my list.

But that's it. I probably ought to give it some time this week. (I'm mostly an internet shopper, so the tool is right in front of me.)

As for winter, I love snow for skiing. Other than that ... no thanks!

I'm always in the Christmas spirit. Love this time of year. However, I have NOT bought a single gift to celebrate my blessings. lol I finally put up some decorations a day ago. The tree has yet to see the light of day, though. We need to motivate each other.

I ease into it by celebrating each moment...visiting a favorite nursery that has loads of balsam and cedar to smell, playing medevial holiday music, treating myself to peppermint bark, and remembering these wise words: "And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet, ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a ltttle bit more." ~Dr. Seuss~
May this month be blessed with magical moments for you Susan!

My wife (who spearheads most of the Christmas shopping...because otherwise I spend too much) has been traveling a lot lately and we are woefully behind this year. I actually prefer it this way because it feels more festive when we're out hunting for presents...and less like bargain hunting! :)

We had an early winter snowstorm in October that knocked our power for a week :/

All's better now, and the house is decorated for Christmas ... Bring it on :)

Winter is my least fave season too. I love looking at snow, just not driving in it. And I don't love the cold! My kids love the snow though!
I've started shopping! I think I'm about almost halfway done! And the tree is up and decorated (thanks to my fab kids who helped me a lot with it and begged me to put it up!)

Winter is my least favorite season too. I do enjoy the snow at first, but it gets bitterly cold here and it lasts too long.

I'm putting up the tree today, but only with lights on it. It may take me a few days to get everything done because of the kitten. She has been so good, but a tree in the house might be too much for her.

Happy Holidays, Susan!

I'm always surprised when I hear that for Americans the Christmas season starts in November :) For me it starts on Christmas Eve :) But I celebrate it only for decorations and shopping :)

Had ours up since after Halloween. Love it.

I have some shopping finished. A lot. But more to do. I just dread the parking lots, the traffic. *sob*

We get our tree Friday. I look forward to decorating it. *waving*

I bought some items for this Christmas in January as the themed gifts "as seen on TV" were on clearance AND it was fresh on my mind. So, I wrapped them in May and delivered the gifts in June to my inlaws. I'm wrapping and mailing a few more items this week to ship to family. (Can't take wrapped gifts on the plane). I feel like I began the Christmas season in early November when I wrote a devotional for church book. I think I totally strayed from the scripture, but I enjoyed writing it.

LOL! Yes we started in the summer. If we see something we get it and squirrel it away for pressies.

Susan,
I guess you missed the flurries we had Thanksgiving weekend? My son and I were dancing around driving my husband nuts. Alas, no snow. But I do have quite a bit of my shopping done. Now to get on with the making...

I have not been able to work up much enthusiasm for Christmas yet, as it will be the first one without my Mum, although very much looking forward to seeing our daughters.

Oh, we are definitely in throes of Christmas around here - but that is mostly to blame on my five-year old who hauled the decorations out of storage early Friday morning :)

I love winter. I haven;t decorated for the holidays yet. I'm still enjoying the fall decorations.

I have picked up a few things here and there and I do have my Christmas cards printed and ready to go.

We've started putting up a few decorations, but the holiday spirit hasn't fully arrived; I'm looking forward to the weekend, when we'll probably work on the tree.

I like the snow--there isn't any in the forecast, but I'm sure there will be some relatively soon. It always comes.

I started my Christmas shopping... and finished it! GASP! I even have my Christmas decorations up.

Strangely enough. No I am not in the Holiday spirit at all. We have not put anything yet and I can't even get my kids excited about it this year. Not sure what is wrong really.

Not sure if you do these or not, but I wanted to let people know all about your site. So I am sharing this award with you.

Come by my blog for the image and read what I said about your blog.

Thanks,
Tim

We put up our Christmas on Sunday, although we have a few things left to do. I have some shopping done, but a lot left to do! This year Christmas sort of snuck up on me. Good luck with all your Christmas activities!

I hate cold weather, but I do love being inside by the fire with snow falling outside. I did get my Christmas decos up. I wasn't in the spirit until then. Now, I'm excited for the holiday.

We are doing a very light Christmas as far as presents go this year because we are saving up for a trip to Disneyland in May (fingers crossed). So, I just have one present to buy for two of my children. Not bad. :) I have listened to Christmas music, but none of the other "Christmas" things are done. We usually wait until after my hubby's birthday (which is tomorrow- yay!).

I'm not in the spirit just yet, and I haven't even started shopping! I must get a move on.

Winter is my least favorite season, too, because I don't like being cold. But I'm weird because I do like the cold only in December. If it's not cold it doesn't feel like Christmas to me and that's not fun. So from Dec. 1 until New Years I want it to be cold cold cold! After that I'm ready for spring and summer to get here. I do love when it's snowing though! It's so pretty to watch, but mostly from the comfort of my warm home with hot cocoa in my hands, LoL.

I'm SO in the Christmas spirit! As soon as Halloween is over I have on the Christmas music. And I always decorate and put up the tree on Thanksgiving weekend. I love this season!

I hope you find your Christmas spirt soon, Susan! Santa will be here in 3.5 weeks... ;)

Winter is my least favorite season, too. We had a freak snow storm at the end of October and I hated it! As for Christmas spirit, I've had tastings of it and feel it coming on. : ) But that "to do" list needs to be tackled soon.

The shopping is done, the decorating is done...I love Christmas. :)

But I haven't written my cards or wrapped anything yet.

We have lights up outside and that's it. I do plan to tackle some Christmas prep this weekend, but I can't quite get into it this year. I think it's that I just can't quite believe it's that time again.

We have so much in common, Susan. :) While I love Christmas, winter is my least favorite season. I have no shopping done, but we have ordered our cards! We took the photo in September, so that part was easy! I hope to pull out the decorations this weekend! When my parents moved to a smaller place a few years back, my mom gave me lots of our family ornaments. I love seeing the old and new ornaments hanging, mixing memories from my childhood and our kids'!

We have had a little snow, but I'm almost DONE with my Christmas shopping. Yay! :)

I love winter because we finally get chilly and sort-of-chilly days in Florida.

Yikes. I've only started shopping and normally I'm done by this time.

Hi Susan,

And on our tropical country December is the hottest month! What I'd do for a little snow right now...no shopping yet, it's too hot to venture out!

cleemckenzie said...

We get snow every twenty years. It's quite an event and it's never in December to nudge me into the holiday spirit. Oh well, I'll just have to do my own nudging, and I'd better get cracking. Haven't even opened the boxes labeled Christmas yet!

I'm really behind with decorating, card sending and all that too. But the kids made me drag them to Arthur Christmas movie, I was amazed how much it put me in the Spirit of Christmas! Excited to get my tree up now.

My tree is done but shopping is left to do. I live in a tropical country and want snow!

I'm definitely in the holiday spirit! Been listening to nothing by Christmas songs on the radio. After all, it's the most wonderful time of the year!
