Change is in the Air

First of all, I apologize for my unexplained absence. I was trying to get my latest manuscript out to beta readers, and I finally did late last week - hooray! While I'm waiting to hear back, I decided to give my blog a new look that better represents the kind of writing I do - mysteries with a touch of creepy.

You may have noticed another change if you read my "About Me" section - I'm starting nursing school! I've been accepted to an Accelerated BSN program which means I can get my BSN in one year since I already have a BS in engineering. I'll need a year of prerequisites (mostly biology) before I can start the program, though, so it will actually be two years. I start my prerequisites in January 2013 and, if all goes according to plan, I'll start the BSN in January 2014. I'm still debating whether I'll do that BSN option or get an Associates nursing degree at a school much closer to home, but either way I'll need the year of prerequisites.

So, that may mean more unexplained absences in the future. Since I started my blog I've been a stay-at-home mom and writer, which allowed me a lot of free time. I'm sure going to school will put a serious cramp in that, but I'll do my best to keep a regular blogging schedule, though there will undoubtedly be times when I fall behind. I hope you'll all understand!

So, big changes happening here. Any changes in your life lately?

That's a big step, but you can do it!
Congratulations on finishing the manuscript and sending it to your beta readers. I got mine back from my critique partners recently and am doing final edits before sending to my publisher.
We have missed you, Susan!

Congratulations on starting a new career! A bold and adventurous step. Good luck to you!

As for big changes, I am probably going to apply for a sabbatical next school year. I'll have to take graduate courses while I'm on the sabbatical, but I'm hoping to fulfill some of my obligations through professional development -- ie: visiting schools as a writer/mentor to students and collaborating with teachers on writing workshops.

I'm going to start working on my application after Thanksgiving. Deep breaths ...

Love the new look--just the right amount to spooky. And best wishes for your nursing studies! My sister is a nurse and loves it.

I've begun rethinking my blog content a bit to incorporate more variety that gives a taste of my fiction writing voice and passions, rather than just "shop talk" among writers. We'll see how it goes!

I went back to school a few years ago--nearly killed myself too, but that's another story. Just don't spread yourself too thin. Wishing you the best, and way to go!

I am so proud of you Susan! You are making a big step forward in your life. You will be an amazing caring nurse that any sick person will be blessed to have. I know you well enough to know you will still write. You could drop down to posting twice a month if it helps.

Love you bunches!

You can do this!!!

From engineering to nursing! Wow- that's a change :) but best of wishes to you in your studies. I have an associate in nursing, and I know what it's like to be a mom and a student. Don't forget to take care of yourself too!

Love the new look, Susan!

Biological sciences were always my favorite courses in high school and university. I started nursing school when I was eighteen. I quit a semester and a half later. I wasn't ready for it, especially the part where you see guys naked. lol

I've never had a schedule - I just blog when an idea strikes. I figure it's all for fun so why not? :)

That spammy mofo up there needs to go away! But back to the point - congrats on enrolling in nursing school!! That's big news but of the good kind.

Love your blog's new look, too :) I'm planning on some transformation in the new year for my blog too, just not sure what yet. ;) It'll probably be a last-minute decision as most of my bloggy decisions are. hehe

Congratulations on your new adventure of going back to school to become a nurse! And to get your lastest MS out to beta readers. And to be a mom, and wife, and... wow, you have accomplished a lot! I recently received my certification of a Christian Life Coach and now need to work on launching the business. Lots of work but I do love and being part of seeing others succeed.
