My Lie Revealed

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to guess my lie in the First Crusader Challenge. If you missed that post, click here. Now, the big reveal...

My secret - I bought myself a box of Mrs. Fields chocolates for Valentine's Day (this is a secret because it was in addition to the box of chocolates my husband bought me and he doesn't know I bought them - at least, not until he reads this post - but they're sooo good I couldn't resist!)

My interesting quirk - I get up super early to write. It used to be 2am pretty regularly, but I'm sleeping a little later these days. And yes, some days I do doze off in my armchair.

My annoying habit - I drink way too much coffee.

One of my best character traits - I always tell the truth. Of course, being a fiction writer, I guess that's not completely true. :)

One of my favorite things in the world - Mrs. Fields chocolates.

The lie gets a little more complicated. First of all, let me assure you this was a fictional piece and I've never had a knife put to my throat. Also, it was pointed out that since I'm telling you there's a lie in there, I don't always tell the truth (Ha! Can't believe I didn't think of that one.) And some of you guessed I would never give up my chocolates, and that's quite true! But the lie I intended is when I said I hate to bake. The truth is, baking is one of my favorite things to do (after writing, of course!)

How about you? Do you have an annoying habit or interesting quirk you'd like to share? Do you ever buy yourself Valentine's Day gifts?

Thanks for playing, and have a great Thursday everyone!

Never purchased a Valentine's gift for myself. Unless buyiing something sexy for my wife counts.

So you really don't like to bake? Hmm, I think you can be excused for buying a second box of chocolates then :-) I'd like some now myself...

Susan Fields said...

Deniz - Oops, I had that worded wrong. I've fixed it now. Sorry it was so confusing!

I always get myself something scrummy for valentine's!! Always!!! :-) This year it was a box of thorntons chocolates - half price! LOL!!!

Awwww you really don't like baking?!!? You mean I'll never get to sample Mrs Fields' other chocolates? Or Mrs Fields' Whoopie Pie? Awwww!

And having too much (there's no such thing!!) coffee is NOT an annoying habit!!! So there!
:-)

Take care

Aha, well you had me fooled LOL!
I love coffee but try to only enjoy one decent cup a day as otherwise I'm awake half the night. :O)

Hey, my Dad is a clone of the cookie monster and he never met a cup of coffee he didn't like...so this sounds normal to me!!!

I've been known to buy a second box of chocolates, too. Post Valentine's day, 50% off, that sort of thing. And I so second Old Kitty's thought ... Coffee is never an annoying habit :)

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

Katherine and I bought ourselves each a small box of after Valentine's day chocolates this year. Like Joanne...they were 50% off. :)

An annoying habit or interesting quirk hmmmmmm? Why, I don't have any. I'm perfect! :O

That's awesome that you like to bake. I'm not really good with food. I can't believe you wake up that early to write! Awesome. I have to write at night. I am SO not a morning person :)

Tracy said...

Oh my goodness, I can't beleive you wake up that early just to write...my writing is unfortunately secondary and it happens when I have the time. I don't like that but it's just the way it is right now until my son heads off to college and I become independently wealthy! I'm still waiting for that to happen :) Until then, I guess I'll keep my day job of teaching!

Ummm, a quirk or annoying habit? My husband would say that I can't stop checking my e-mail and comments. Even if we are watching TV together or playing a game, I go to the computer to see if I've received comments or any e-mails...he would REALLY say that is annoying!

Mrs. Fields makes chocolates? I'm so out of the loop!

The best lies are always the simplest and most innocuous ones. :)

I haven't purchased a V-Day gift for myself, but my roommate and I did treat ourselves to dinner. :)

Holy cow! 2 AM? I could never do that! I stay up later at night to write, but I need my precious sleep. ;) I love to bake too! I just baked some cookies yesterday! Granted, I ate half of them already...
Um...an interesting quirk? Hmmm... I tend to make up weird songs for my kids a lot... ;)

I love that you bought yourself chocolates! Yay Susan!

I've been tempted to buy myself some favorite chocolates on V-day but I never have.
I drink way too much coffee too so maybe it's a writer's habit.

I love how you bought yourself chocolates. That's fun. And I can't believe you wake up at 2. No wonder you fall asleep :D

Valentine's Day is a great excuse to buy chocolate for myself (I usually don't need an excuse though)

I never thought of buying a Valentine's Day gift for myself. Thanks for the idea. So doing that. I love how you revealed yourself. I just put my Crusader's post up. We'll see...

Have a great weekend!

I bought myself a computer the day before Valentine's Day. it had nothing to do with that particular day and everything to do with my desparation to have a laptop but I guess it falls into the right time frame.

Ladies are always entitled to buy themselves chocolates. Buy 'em and be proud, sister.

You deserved the chocolate. :)

I bought chocolates for the whole family to split this year. I used Valentine's Day as an excuse. I buy way too much chocolate all year long! Well, if there's such a thing as too much chocolate...

I love Mrs. Fields's cookies. I haven't had one in so long!

Lola Sharp said...

I buy myself good chocolate all year round. :)

And I drink way too much coffee too.

And suddenly I'm hungry for baked goods...chocolatey baked goods. With a cup of coffee. Mmmmmm.

Happy weekend!
Love,
Lola

I'm sure my husband could list a few quirks!

My hubby would say my annoying quirk is that I vacuum too much. Ok, I do. But we have white rugs!!

I've actually never liked coffee. tastes like burnt water to me.

Glad to hear the knife at throat was fiction! Valentine's Day is Single Awareness Day for me, so I have been known to buy myself a gift in the past.

Hema Penmetsa said...

Yea, I guessed your lie correctly! :) An interesting quirk I have is, I get super excited when I'm reading/discussing history -- from any part of the world. At least, I see it as an interesting characteristic, but my family - who is at the receiving end of this trait - may think otherwise... ;-)

New follower here! So glad I chanced upon your blog. Love it! Baking is a great stress reliever, I find. I love baking cookies. I have a recipe for Marshmallow cloud cookies if you're interested. :P have a fabulous week!

I like to wear the same shirt and sweat pants when writing. Yeah, they gets dirty and should be washed more. What can I say. They're so comfy when they're dirty.

Jackee said...

LOL! You are too cute. I would have guessed baking, but then in the last year we've learned a lot about each other.

I'm so impressed at how many followers you have now! You're huge. :o) Congrats! Have a happy Monday!

Why wait until Valentine's to buy chocolate for yourself? :) I loved your crusader challenge story and the guy with the rabbit's foot earring!
