Monday Musings

1. Gardening done, and I got it finished on Friday evening before the rain came! Which was great, because it then proceeded to rain the entire weekend and watered my new plantings. It's funny how much more I appreciate rain after I've been gardening.

2. I took my kids to see Soul Surfer yesterday. I could tell from the previews I would like it, and it ended up being even better that I'd hoped. I guess it's the mom in me, but it made me very emotional. My favorite part was when they showed photos of the real Bethany Hamilton and her family at the end. My kids all gave it a thumbs-up as well.

3. We ordered the flooring for our basement on Saturday, and today I start painting the walls. We're turning it into a rec room for the teenagers in the house. This should be a good opportunity to let those creative plotting juices flow. :)

4. I just won over at Deniz Bevan's The Girdle of Melian blog for her 500 Posts Contest. Thanks so much, Deniz!

Did you do anything fun this weekend? Any big plans for the week ahead?

Sounds to me like you are having some great things happening. I wish I had a garden but living in an apartment doesn't allow that. I loved Soul Surfer, I got to enjoy it at the drive-in one weekend. Congrats on getting the flooring and pulling a win!

My in-laws were in town this weekend so we had lots of great food (eating out) and enjoyed the gorgeous weather! I also maintained my word count each day (something new I'm trying) and trying to keep my focus off of querying and more on the new WIPS!

I planted my garden too ... lots of tomato plants, with some lettuce and eggplant too. And now the rains here too, perfect timing. Fresh tomatoes right off the vine are so good, can't wait!

I have wanted to see Soul Surfer and now will (again) make a plan to go! I went to my first High Tea. It was delicious!

Oh the garden - don't remind me. We went to the zoo on Sunday. First time in a long time. Nice day. This week includes revisions. Again.

I'd rather it rained after I mowed than before - that only delays the mowing and makes the grass grow faster.

I love painting a room...it's mindless activity and always leads to a flood of ideas. Vacuuming is the same for me.

My kids want to see Soul Surfer too. Glad to hear that it is really good! I'm sure it is inspiring!

We had a huge thunderstorm this weekend. It was so amazing! My husband read that we got the entire average rainfall for the month of May in one day. Grow plants, grow! :)

Amy
P.S. Thanks for the movie recommendation. I'll have to check that one out.

I've been sick and didn't get the gardening done this weekend that I'd hoped to. When the rain started my first thought was that it would have so nice for the seeds/plants!

Are you turning the basement into your office?

I like it when a movie's better than the preview as it doesn't happen often!

Just put up my latest ebook on Kindle & B&N, Nuts About Shea Butter.

I love gardening, too bad I never have time for it :( But I do have lovely irises in the garden right now in all possible colours and my favourite peonies should bloom soon.

Sounds like a great weekend.

I went to see Water For Elephants with friends and out to dinner. Also had a Girls Night at my house-- mani-pedis and chick flicks. (=

Congratulations Susan! Do you think my potted plants on the balconey will be okay, with all the rain and wind? It's the first time I've planted anything on my own :-)

I did a ton of gardening too! :o) I got the fence up and tilled and seeded. Good times.

The kids are going to love the basement! Oh to be an author-looking fly on the wall... lol.

Have a wonderful day, my friend!

I'm thrilled to hear that Soul Surfer was cool. Want to see that one. This weekend...I hosted a prom dinner for my oldest (a junior), his date, and their friends. It was a lot of fun and interesting to really watch them interact. Go YA!! :)

I wanted to see Soul Surfer but didn't have a chance. I'll have to wait for the DVD.

So what did you win?

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

What did you plant? We haven't started a garden yet. I hope to plant one in the next week or so. :)

Congrats on the prize.
Sounds like a productive weekend.
We were so busy with guests and the cat was injured an had to be kept in a room quietly. Exhausting but fun! :O)

I just got some gardening done right before the rains too. Tore out some patio deck and tilled the ground. Now we'll plant some stuff with the kids, including watermelons.

Congratulations on the prize! Seems like you had a very productive weekend!

I also got some gardening done, but then we have to do it the whole year around in my country!
